Always wonder how that non-halal sandwich food chain makes their famous meatball subs? Give it a try with this simple recipe and you will wow your family at dinner-time. Tip: Add more sauces or purees if you find it a tad dry for your tastebuds!

Serves 4

Ingredients

Meatballs

  • 1 Loaf French Baguette Not Included
  • 500 Grams Minced Beef Not Included
  • 1 Piece White Onion
  • 1.5 Cups Breadcrumbs
  • 1 Tablespoon Dried Oregano
  • 1 Teaspoon Paprika
  • Salt and Pepper Not Included

Tomato Sauce

  • 2 Pieces Big Red Onions
  • 4 Cloves Garlic
  • 2 Cans Canned Tomatoes
  • 1 Cube Chicken Stock
  • 1 Tablespoon Italian Seasoning

Instructions

Meatballs

  1. Heat oven to 200 degrees celcius.
  2. Mix well all the ingredients together in a bowl.
  3. Use a tablespoon to shape the meat into balls.
  4. Arrange the meatballs onto a line baking tray.
  5. Cook in the oven for about 15 to 20 minutes.

Tomato Sauce

  1. Chop onion and garlic.
  2. Heat up oil in a pot.
  3. Saute onion first, followed by garlic.
  4. Add in the chopped tomatoes.
  5. Add in the tomato puree and Italian seasoning.
  6. Add in the chicken stock, salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Apply low heat and allow the sauce to simmer for about an hour.
  8. Add in the meatballs and continue to simmer for 5 minutes.
  9. Serve on fresh baguette or rustic Italian bread.
