Had too much leftover rice from yesterday’s dinner? Cook up this simple classic Nasi Goreng Kampong for a hearty breakfast. With wholesome ingredients, it is sure to give you the energy needed for a whole day at work or school.

Serves 4


Fried Rice

  • 2 Cups White Rice cooked, leftovers are good
  • 1 Piece Large Red Onion
  • 2 Piece Shallots
  • 1 Bulb Garlic
  • 1 Inch Ginger fresh
  • 1 Cube Fish Stock
  • 5 Pieces Chilli Padi
  • 1.5 Cups Mixed Vegetables
  • 3 Pieces Crabstick
  • 5 Pieces Fishball
  • 1 Egg beaten

Sides (Optional)

  • Fried Keropok Ikan
  • Fried Chicken Wings
  • Sunny Side Up


  1. Peel and roughly cut onion, shallots, garlic and ginger.
  2. Blitz onion, shallots, garlic and ginger in a food processor with a 3 tablespoons of water until it becomes a fine paste.
  3. Slice crabsticks and fishball thinly. Set aside. 4
  4. Slice chilli padi thinly. Set aside.
  5. Heat 4 tablespoons of oil in a wok.
  6. Fry the onion paste for about 3 minutes, till it starts to dry up.
  7. Add in sliced chilli padi.
  8. Stir in fishball and crabsticks and cook for 2 to 3 minutes.
  9. Add in mixed vegetables and rice.
  10. Add salt and pepper to taste and stir well until all the ingredients are well mixed.
  11. Make a well in the middle of the rice, and add in 1 tablespoon of oil.
  12. Add in beaten egg and let it cook for about 1 minute before mixing the rice with the egg.
  13. Stir on high heat for about 2 minutes before serving.
  14.
