It's been weeks, no months, since you last met up with your closest friends or had that long awaited HTHT (heart to heart) session with your girl friends or home boys. Where else do you go to? A makan place of course. Great makan places are the designated go to for those catch up sessions that you always planned to have for an hour and end up spending the whole day on. That is great and all but the only problem with that is when you realize that...eh, dah azan eh? Alamak, I haven't even prayed Zuhur yet...Eh eh eh, wait a minute! Before everybody scatters and starts rushing off to squeeze in their prayers in between riveting snippets of conversation, how about we just share with you the hangouts that have a mosque nearby.

1. A-Poh's Kitchen

Sequestered in the West of Singapore, this bustling restaurant serves up halal Chinese style cuisine. Maintaining the balance of sweet and sour, A-Poh's Kitchen serves traditional Chinese cuisine minus the pork and lard that is present in popular Chinese dishes. A-Poh's Kitchen serves up the delectable Singaporean favourites like Black Pepper Crab and the ever local beloved Chilli Crab and is perfect for big gatherings. Most importantly, this makan spot is just about 10 minutes walk from Masjid Darussalam. Plus points for location right there!

On the second level of One KM mall, this cafe has meal offerings and sumptuous desserts for a more affectionate meeting in smaller groups or  a private one on one chat with your besties. Less than 10mins away, you have the rustic Masjid Wak Tanjong which is just nice for your solat needs.

While Julie Bakes is more of a walk in bakery than a proper cafe to hangout, you might want to keep it in mind if you're looking to pick up a tasty bite and go for prayers before your hang out. We are just going to throw it in this guide for the ladies who want to grab a snack instead of a full blown meal to accompany your light hearted convos. Situated along Bussorah Street, stop by Julie Bakes for the yummilicious Ondeh Ondeh Churros and assorted cupcakes or grab yourself the traditional epok-epok before heading off to Masjid Sultan.

halalfoodhunt.com is a website listing verified Muslim-owned or Halal Certified food businesses. We started out educating halal foodies on how to know if a food is halal or not when there are no halal certifications. As we received so many enquiries on whether a food business is halal or not, we created halalfoodhunt.com, while letting halal foodies know about the myriad of options open to them! It is a website created and self-funded by local Singaporean Muslims for the Singaporean Muslim community.
