Halalfoodhunt   butter chicken recipe

We know how intimidating Indian cuisine is for everyone, but we’ve made this butter chicken recipe as simple as possible for you to enjoy with your loved ones. Served with either fresh or homemade naan, this favourite Indian dish is certainly finger licking good!

Serves 4


  • 2 Tablespoon Olive Oil
  • 3 Tablespoon Ghee
  • 8 Pieces Cardamoms
  • 8 Pieces Tomatoes
  • 50 Grams Ginger
  • 4 Pieces Green Chillies
  • 2 Tablespoon Red Chilli Powder
  • 1 Tablespoon Garam Masala
  • 1 Tablespoon Kasuri Methi
  • 200 Millilitre Coconut Milk
  • 4 Pieces Chicken Breasts
  • 8 Pieces Prata (TYJ)


  1. CHOP tomatoes into smaller pieces.
  2. CHOP garlic and green chillies.
  3. SLICE ginger after removing the ginger skin.
  4. DICE chicken breast into bite-sized chunks.
  5. MIX salt with the diced chicken and marinate thoroughly.


  1. HEAT olive oil and ghee.
  2. SAUTÉ garlic and cardamoms.
  3. ADD tomatoes until it simmer and soften.
  4. COOL the pan down for 5 minutes after the mixture is cooked.
  5. BLEND this cooked mixture in a blender.
  6. GRILL marinated chicken on a separate non-stick pan until cooked. *no oil required
  7. MELT the remaining ghee in the same empty heated pan.
  8. SAUTÉ green chilli and ginger in the pan.
  9. SIEVE the blended paste into the pan and discard the residue.
  10. ADD kashmiri powder, kasuri methi, garam masala and coconut milk into the pan.
  11. ADD the grilled chicken into the mixture.
  12. ADD salt and pepper to taste.


  1. PREPARE prata as per packet instructions.
  2. SERVE butter chicken with the cooked prata.
