Recently published on local papers, a Singapore study has confirmed the link between red meat and diabetes. The study's findings encourages people to eat less meat and switch to other options instead, but here, we're sharing your halal food options which do not have meat at all, encouraged by the Meatless Monday movement. 

Meatless Monday is global movement with a simple message: once a week, cut the meat. Launched in 2003, Meatless Monday is a non-profit initiative with the intention to encourage you to rethink our food consumption choices. Just once a week, we cut out the meat from our diet. Going meatless once a week can reduce the risk of chronic preventable conditions like diabetes, cancer, heart problems and obesity. Not just that, going meatless once a week can help reduce our carbon footprint and prolong energy consumptions.

With Singaporeans’ rising affluence, it is no surprise that we don’t scrimp on meals. We tend to load our plates with processed meat, chicken and steak instead of piling on the vegetables and legumes. A common misconception that is still prevalent is our society is that plant-based protein is not sufficient for a our diet. While it is difficult to switch to being fully vegan, taking small steps in ensuring our body is not working too hard to cleanse the toxins from all meat is important.
