Beat the queues at the local “cupcakery” and instead whip up these deliciously soft, fluffy and moist red velvet cupcakes. Topped with cream cheese frosting, you won’t want to share the cupcakes at all!

Serves 24 Pieces



  • 250 Grams Plain Flour
  • 20 Grams Cocoa Powder
  • 0.5 Teaspoon Baking Powder
  • 114 Grams Unsalted Butter
  • 300 Grams Caster Sugar
  • 2 Teaspoon Vanilla Essence
  • 2 Pieces Egg
  • 240 Millilitre Milk 38% fat
  • 2 Tablespoon Red Food Colouring
  • 1 Teaspoon Baking Soda
  • 1 Teaspoon Apple Cider Vinegar
  • 240 Millilitre Heavy Whipping Cream

Cream Cheese Frosting

  • 1 Pack Cream Cheese
  • 1 Teaspoon Vanilla Essence
  • 1 Tablespoon Caster Sugar



  1. PREHEAT the oven at 180 deg celsius.
  2. BEAT butter and sugar (300g) in the mixture.
  3. ADD vanilla essence (2tsp).
  4. ADD eggs when the mixture is creamy.
  5. MIX flour, baking powder, salt, and cocoa powder in a separate mixing bowl and sieve.
  6. ADD the flour mixture into the mixer.
  7. MIX milk and vinegar to form buttermilk.
  8. ADD butter milk into the mixer.
  9. MIX baking soda with the Apple Cider Vinegar.
  10. ADD Apple Cider Vinegar and red food colouring into the mixer and mix well.


  1. LAY 24 paper cups on a baking tray.
  2. SCOOP the batter and divide evenly into 24 portions.
  3. BAKE for 18 to 20 minutes.

Cream Cheese Frosting

  1. CUT the cream cheese into cubes.
  2. BEAT cream cheese in the mixer.
  3. ADD vanilla essence (1 tsp).
  4. ADD caster sugar into the mixer (1tbsp).
  5. ADD Heavy Whipping CREAM into the mixer and mix well for 2 to 4 minutes until stiff peaks.
  6. PIPE the cream cheese on top of the cupcakes to complete frosting as per your liking!
  7. DECORATE with red hearts and serve!
