We bring you to the land of smiles with this pad ka graw recipe – a fast and easy recipe, this Thai Basil Beef makes use of the typical Asian condiments and spices will surely make cooking that midweek dinner less of a chore and hassle.

Serves 4


  • 2 Tablespoon Oil Not Included
  • 350 Grams Beef Thinly sliced
  • 1 Teaspoon Oil Not Included
  • 2 Teaspon Cornstarch
  • 5 Cloves Garlic Chopped
  • 1/2 Piece Red Bell Pepper Thinly sliced
  • 1 Cup Thai Basil Leaves
  • 1 Piece Small Onion Thinly sliced
  • 2 Teaspoon Soy Sauce
  • 1 Teaspoon Dark Soy Sauce
  • 1 Teaspoon Oyster Sauce
  • 1 Teaspoon Fish Sauce
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Sugar
  • Coriander Leaves for garnish


  1. Mix beef, 1 teaspoon of oil and cornstarch together in a bowl. Set aside.
  2. Heat your wok over high heat, and add the oil.
  3. Sear the beef until just browned, remove from the wok, and set aside.
  4. Add the garlic and red pepper to the wok and stir-fry for about 20 seconds.
  5. Add the onions and stir-fry until browned and slightly caramelized.
  6. Toss the beef back in, along with the soy sauce, dark soy sauce, oyster sauce, fish sauce, and sugar.
  7. Stir-fry for another few seconds, and then fold in the Thai basil until it’s just wilted.
  8. Serve with jasmine rice, and garnish with coriander leaves.
