Special Ramadhan Items on the Menu at Kaw Kaw SG

0 2

When I was deciding on the title for this article, I couldn’t run away from the fact that the word takeaway now sounds more like ‘lessons learnt’ more than food that is meant to be packed and brought home – but yes, that’s exactly what I’m referring to.

One fine afternoon, Aina from Kaw Kaw SG dropped me a text inviting me to try their Special Ramadhan Items – but, I had to politely decline because of one reason.

Every Ramadhan, our community have this habit of sitting at restaurants or any makan place for about 30 minutes to 1 hour before breaking fast just to ensure that they have a seat. After that, they order their food to arrive about 10-15 minutes before the designated time for Iftar – and literally, they just sit there staring at the food until it’s time to break their fast, in a crowded and noisy setting – I don’t enjoy any part of the experience that I’ve just described, and so I either take the alternative route of dining at 8pm, or I avoid restaurants entirely.

So because of this reason, I asked if it was ok that I takeaway their food instead – and they said YES!

Well, before we move further, I’d like to just state a disclaimer that if you want your food to look more delectable, please feel free to call in to Kaw Kaw SG to dine in. When you dine in, everything tastes and looks better just because you’re eating it right after it is being prepared. With that in mind, you can go ahead and look at the next picture.

What got me really excited when I opened the box was the Keropok Ikan (Fish crackers) – so common yet so unique at the same time. I so loved the idea of serving the malay-fusion-burger with Keropok ikan instead of the usual potato chips or fries – the tastes of the dishes went SO much better together. Here’s a closer look at the two burgers.

I still cant get over how one piece of chicken in between 2 pieces of bread can be so juicy! The winner out of the two burgers has to be the Ayam Perchik Burger. One bite into this slab of meat will bring you straight to the Ramadhan Bazaars that we frequent in the nights of Ramadhan leading up to Hari Raya. It was flavourful in every single bite – clearly the marination was very well done.  Just look at those generous portions of meat – it’s so well worth to give both burgers a shot!

In the month of Ramadhan,
Kaw Kaw SG opens at 4-6pm only for patrons to purchase and take away.
Dine-in starts at 6pm, and you can call in to make reservations.

Our advice? If you want to dine in, call in one day ahead to avoid disappointments. But if you’re like me, then the take-away option is just fine!
